Panama is the southernmost country of Central America and is comprised of a variety of stunning landscapes and seascapes, white and golden sand beaches, rolling hills with farm and ranch lands, mountains and, of course, cities and people. During our travels in July we took hundreds of photos and we wanted to share some of our favorites this week.

We’ve spent the month of August crisscrossing the US visiting family and friends on a long overdue trip back “home”. Our travels started at the beginning of the month flying in from Panama to New Jersey for a few days and followed by a ride to Washington D.C. via Amtrak. Later we flew to Spokane, WA. for a mini-family reunion. Another flight a few days afterwards took us to Denver, CO where we’re currently visiting more family including our son and grandson. Our last stop in the US will take us to Corpus Christi, TX before we head to South America in September. There we may just have to take some time off to recoup from a hectic month and catch our breaths!
Next week: More stories from Panama

So glad that our photos had some influence on your travel plans and priorities! There’s so much to see in Panama that, even though Panama is a small country, a month just isn’t enough time. We’ll have to return some day… As for South America, Ecuador is next on the list and we’re looking forward to resuming our lifestyle of S-L-O-W T-R-A-V-E-L in September.

Love all your photos and I’m always trying to take panorama photos but it’s not easy – at least for me. My husband and I want to visit Panama after reading your post. He’s not a blogger, but I showed him how beautiful it looks!

I’m so glad that our post and pics has piqued your interest in Panama and made you interested in a visit! Even though we had researched Panama and read about all of the different areas and climates, traditions and activities that Panama had to offer we were still amazed at what a diverse and interesting country it is. Definitely a place that has something for everyone!

I think the mix of modern and ancient as well as the beauty of the bay and the Panama Canal makes Panama City a fascinating place to visit and spend some time in. Well worth a visit of a few days!

August has been especially busy as we returned to the US for the first time in 2 years to visit family and replace all of our gear and correct some of our traveling gear choices that we made when we first hit the road. I think we’ll be able to work up a few posts from this experience!

We’re so glad you like the pics! We hope to see the canal as passengers making the transit next time, too. A trip through the canal is a good item to have on the “want-to-do” list!

Panama City is an incredible place with its mix of modern skyscrapers and 17th century ruins as well as the whole bay front area and TWO UNESCO heritage sites within its city limits. We spent a total of ten days there and only scratched the surface…I see a return trip in our future!

Love the painted masks – are they dogs or fish? Dog fish? Great folk art. I’m looking forward to your upcoming posts, as Panama is on our list. 🙂

We were quite taken with the vivid colors of the painted masks and the artist was especially talented and well-known in the Azuero Peninsula where these were made. I believe that they represent the devil or evil spirits but don’t quote me!
